The German nightfighters were organized in so called "Nachtjagddivisionen" ("nightfighter squadrons"). Each Nachtjagddivision had it's own area of operations and had it's own headquarters. Each headquarters had it's control center. Three of those control centers were houses in large bunkers. These were called "Großraumgefechtsstand" ("large area HQ"). They had a codename, derived from the names of Greek historical figures:

  • Großraumgefechtsstand Cäsar, Driebergen (predecessor of Großraumgefechtsstand Diogenes), Netherlands
  • Großraumgefechtsstand Diogenes, Schaarsbergen, Netherlands
  • Großraumgefechtsstand Gyges, Grove/Karup, Danmark
  • Großraumgefechtsstand Sokrates, Stade
  • Großraumgefechtsstand Döberitz, Germany (not sure if there was a large bunker)
  • Großraumgefechtsstand Schleißheim/Oberschleißheim, Germany (not sure if there was a large bunker)
  • Großraumgefechtsstand Metz, France (not sure if there was a large bunker)
