Regelbau 624 with it's armoured canopy removed (Boulogne).

The Regelbau 624 was equipped with so-called Behelfsmäßigen Scharten und Deckenplatte (roof canopy): this was a combination of a frontal armoured plate and a vertical armoured plate (= roof). The Regelbau 624 in the pictures on this page, probably had a 77P9 (Pz. Scharte.-u.Deckenplatte) as roof canopy. This type of roof canopy had two "Panzerbeobachtungswinkelfernrohren" and had a firing-opening that could be closed with a bullet shaped stopper. The machinegun was placed on a carriage (MG. 34-Lafette).

View on the removed roof canopy. Look at how the raised border (with hooks for the camouflage nets) ran over the armoured roof !!
